Nintendo Direct Announced for Thursday, No Switch 2 News Planned

The Nintendo Switch 2 might be the biggest gaming news of the year. Nintendo teased the console in January, and the reveal for the new console happens next week. There are still plenty of questions about the Switch 2, such as how much it will cost, what games will come out for it, and most importantly, when it will be available to buy.

However, at least for this week, Nintendo is going to focus on the original Switch for its next Nintendo Direct on Thursday. Nintendo plans to talk about upcoming games for the original Switch, according to a post on the company’s X social account on Wednesday. The Mario company did not hint at what titles will be discussed, but it will be a short show, meaning it will likely be only a handful of games revealed.

Where to watch Nintendo Direct?

Nintendo will stream the Nintendo Direct on its YouTube channel.

When is the Nintendo Direct?

The Nintendo Direct takes place on Thursday, March 27, and starts at 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT.

What to expect during the Nintendo Direct?

As Nintendo said in its post, there will be no Switch 2 talk during the event. Since the show is only 30 minutes long, a few major games will likely be focused on, and a flurry of other games may also be revealed. This event could be the first show showcasing Metroid Prime 4, which was revealed last year and is supposed to come out sometime this year.

This year’s Switch lineup is a little bit light, but that’s understandable with the Switch 2 releasing soon. The Switch 2 does have backward compatibility with original Switch games, making new games for the Switch also technically new games for the new console as well.
