From Darth Jar Jar to Star Destroyer bombardments, Fortnite players have seen it all during the Star Wars season — except for one last climactic battle. The Death Star Sabotage event will begin on June 7 at 2 p.m. ET (11 a.m PT), pitting players against the giant battlestation fans know so well. It’s no moon.
What time is the Fortnite Star Wars event?
The Death Star Sabotage event will begin at 2 p.m ET (11 a.m PT) on Saturday, June 7, 2025. However, Fortnite events like these have some strict rules that both new and returning players should know.
When users log on (this now includes those who use the Apple App Store), they’ll be able to select the Death Star Sabotage event in the Discover section. But returning players beware: These special events aren’t like the usual battle royale. This is a one time only experience, so you’ll have to log in on time if you want to participate. Once it begins, it’s likely to have several objectives to complete in a more cinematic, on-the-rails adventure.
While details about the Death Star Sabotage mode are scarce, teaser footage shows what looks like Fortnite players wearing Stormtrooper skins and sabotaging equipment, presumably inside the Death Star itself. Pictures also show some tie-fighter activity, defense against a Star Destroyer and more Star Wars action.
What rewards are there for playing the Fortnite Star Wars event?
Starting on June 3, players who log on in preparation for the Death Star Sabotage will also find a special loading screen advertising the event, as well as receive Captain Phasma’s personal melee weapon as a teaser reward.
CNET senior analyst and Fortnite aficionado Jeffrey Mizrahi has been playing the Star Wars season all month and found it particularly satisfying.
«The month-long Star Wars/Fortnite crossover has been one of the best IP collaborations Epic has ever pulled off,» Mizrahi said. «From small things like blaster gameplay to piloting X-Wings, tie fighters and even star destroyers, I only wish this season lasted longer.»
How to join the Fornite Star Wars event?
As long as players have an Epic Games account and can successfully log into Fortnite, they should see the Death Star Sabotage event in the Discover tab. If they want to participate in Twitch events this week to get extra prizes, they’ll need to link their Twitch and Epic Games accounts together. Those who can’t join directly will still be able to watch the cinematic event online, since many streamers will be playing.
As this battle concludes the Star Wars season, expect Fortnite to go offline before rebooting on Sunday with the new summer season.
