After introducing Genre Packs this past February, DirecTV is launching a new streaming option called MyKids for $20 a month, the TV provider announced Thursday. The offering is aimed at cord-cutters and joins the Genre Pack lineup as an affordable family-friendly package with live channels from Paramount, Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery and a Disney Plus subscription at no extra charge.
Signing up for the MyKids pack doesn’t require a satellite subscription, and you get access to a selection of kid-favorite programming, including WBD’s Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Discovery Family; Nickelodeon, Nicktoons, Nick Jr. and TeenNick under the Paramount umbrella; and Disney-owned Disney Junior, Disney Channel, Disney XD and the Disney Plus streaming service.
Additionally, DirecTV is adding new programming from Paramount to its MyEntertainment and My Sports Genre Packs. Viewers will get channels like BET, CMT, Comedy Central, MTV, MTV2, Paramount Network, VH1 and CBS.
MyKids sits alongside other curated genre packages, with some that cost less than $50 per month. The $35 MyEntertainment package features access to 40 channels like Food Network and Bravo and streaming subscriptions for Max and the Disney Duo Basic bundle. Its $40 MyNews package has more than 10 channels from networks such as Fox, CNN, CNBC and some local stations, while the $35-a-month MiEspañol bundle gives you content from over 60 channels, including ESPN Deportes and Telemundo.
Sports fans can pay a little more each month with the $70 MySports plan, which has live programming from ABC, ESPN, Fox, NBC, USA Network, TBS, TNT and more. Now, the package will include programming from 15 CBS channels, including CBS Sports Network.
