Have you ever been using a VPN service and thought, «This is great, but I could be warmer»? Proton VPN, in collaboration with British streetwear brand Aries, has introduced a stylish blanket featuring an NFC chip embedded within it. Using the NFC chip by tapping with a phone opens up an offer for a free month of Proton’s Unlimited VPN service, which usually costs $10 a month. Users will then have access to content from more than 120 countries.

The gray/ecru colored blanket isn’t cheap. It costs $260. The blanket is about 4 feet by 4.5 feet and is made in Italy from an 80% wool, 20% polyamide blend, according to Aries.
The design could be kindly described as a mashup of patterns, shapes like alien heads and peace symbols, and a few stray words and phrases, such as «welcome» and «we love our home.»
The companies are calling it the world’s first VPN blanket. Aries and Proton are stopping short of calling it the only NFC blanket on the market — the National Football League might have something to say about that.
Proton has been highly rated among the VPN services reviewed by CNET. The service has been making improvements and introducing new features as part of its fall and winter roadmap, including new server locations and infrastructure updates.
