A new era for Siri AI is approaching. Following the redesign reveal at Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference in June, anticipation has been building for the upcoming Siri 2.0.
However, utilizing Siri AI extensively might come with a price tag.
During Thursday’s quarterly earnings call, CEO Tim Cook alluded to potential additional charges.
When questioned about iOS 27, Apple Intelligence, public beta responses, and how Apple intends to manage compute costs via iCloud Plus, Cook indicated that Siri AI might be bundled into iCloud Plus subscription tiers.
“We do believe there will be people that want to use it a lot, and so we will have some kind of upgrade possibilities on iCloud Plus,” Cook remarked.
He noted that these concepts are still in their infancy and no definitive strategy was shared. Cook expressed that Apple’s team is “off-the-charts excited about Siri AI,” noting the feedback has been incredibly positive.
This earnings call, which marks Cook’s final appearance before John Ternus assumes the CEO role, follows Apple’s recent price hikes for Apple Music and the Apple One bundle.
Apple has confirmed the new AI-integrated assistant will launch on iOS 27, iPadOS 27, MacOS 27, and VisionOS 27. The update promises a fresh design, customization options, Visual Intelligence, and a dedicated app.
New Siri capabilities will include finding concert details, assisting with ticket purchases, and setting reminders to buy them. Other features include searching through messages (e.g., “Call the eye doctor who messaged me”), generating personalized photo albums for loved ones, and identifying locations from images.
Apple has not yet provided a comment on these potential charges.
