Apple’s AirDrop Now Works With More Pixel Phones

If you’re an Android user in a sea of Apple-using family members or friends, sharing media with them may have just gotten easier. More Android devices are now compatible with AirDrop as Google’s Quick Share expands across devices, Google announced this week.

In November, Quick Share expanded to the Pixel 10 devices. Now, it’s expanding to the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

«This expansion makes sharing high-resolution files with friends on iPhone, iPad or MacOS devices simpler than ever before,» the announcement reads in part, adding that Quick Share is «engineered with multi-layered security at its foundation.»

Quick Share is currently available on eight Pixel devices in the 9 and 10 series. However, it is not available on the 9A, and it is unclear why, or if it will be soon, since Quick Share will reportedly be available on more unannounced Android devices later in 2026. The feature is currently in the rollout phase for the 9-series devices. Apple wouldn’t comment on the lack of Quick Share on the 9A.

Just remember that if you’re trying out Quick Share, ensure that the Apple user’s AirDrop settings are turned to everyone mode rather than «contacts only» in order for the devices to interact.
