As the newly designed Formula One cars roar around Monaco’s streets this weekend, you can spot them in an unexpected place: Apple Maps.
During the F1 Monaco Grand Prix from June 5‑7, Apple has turned its Detailed City Experience back on for Monte Carlo, displaying the circuit layout, turn markers, grandstands, pit garages and the finish line.
The view was originally built for the 2025 race, and this year Apple tweaked a few details. The track—snaking through Monaco’s streets and buildings—now appears in dark gray instead of light red, and the cars shown along it are coloured to match this season’s teams. (They’re purely decorative; their positions don’t reflect the actual race order.)
The overlay also includes detailed 3‑D models of landmarks such as the Casino de Monte‑Carlo and the Hôtel de Paris Monte‑Carlo, with both daytime and night‑lit versions.
Apple first introduced an F1 overlay for the Circuit de Monaco last year. Since then it has added similar detailed maps for street races in Las Vegas, Melbourne, Montreal and Miami, activating them on race days. Apple’s involvement in Formula One has deepened, especially now that Apple TV carries the U.S. broadcast of the series.
Following the pattern of other city‑experience updates, the Monaco map adds numerous extras, from road markings to bike lanes. If you’re attending the event on the Côte d’Azur, Apple Maps can be a handy navigation aid, offering real‑time data on road closures, footbridges and restroom locations.
