Ever wonder what passions the Duolingo owl has outside of the language learning app? It seems acting is a calling for the green-feathered mascot.
Duolingo is launching a new short-form anime series that provides a new backstory for Duo — the lime-colored bird — and his pals, according to a news release from Duolingo. The series, 最後の決戦 (The Final Test), consists of five 60-second episodes, which will all hit Duolingo’s YouTube channel on Monday, Oct. 13.
The anime series lines up with the launch of updated Duolingo Japanese courses, and all the show’s voice acting will be in Japanese. Subtitles will be available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Hindi, Japanese, Korean and Thai.
According to the release, the show focuses on the early days of Duo and the team, who «must navigate different challenges to keep their streak — and one another — alive.» Duolingo produced the series in partnership with the animation studio Titmouse.
Duolingo offers lessons in more than 40 languages and is among the language learning apps CNET recommends. You can also learn math, music and chess using the popular app.
