‘Monster: The Ed Gein Story’: Release Date and How to Watch

From Jeffrey Dahmer to the Menendez brothers, the Monster anthology series has mined the world of true crime to bring some dastardly stories to life. Now, in its third season, it’s Ed Gein’s turn.

Gein, played by Sons of Anarchy’s Charlie Hunnam, wreaked havoc in Wisconsin in the 1950s. His gruesome crimes and the psychosis of the man responsible inspired a whole cavalcade of horror movies; most famously, these three: Psycho, The Silence of the Lambs and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

Ryan Murphy has shown his affinity for serial killers — take a look back at American Horror Story: Hotel for that one episode where they all have a dinner party together — but this new run of Monster, which he co-created with Ian Brennan, may be his darkest installment yet.

Suzanna Son, Tom Hollander, Laurie Metcalf, Vickey Krieps, Olivia Williams, Joey Pollari, Tyler Jacob Moore, Robin Weigert, Lesley Manville and more round out the show’s cast.
