5 Prompts to Try Out Gemini 3 Pro in Google Search

You can now access Google’s AI tool Gemini 3 Pro in Google Search via AI Mode. It’s shaking up search behavior because now you can ask all your chatbot-like questions directly in Google’s Search interface.

If you find yourself toggling between ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Google, now you can centralize some of that activity. With Gemini 3 Pro in Search, it will not only answer your question but also attempt to read your intent and provide more information than you’ve asked for.

As a multimodal AI model, it can handle text, images, video, code, reasoning and planning, all in one system.

Google Search with Gemini 3 Pro launched in November 2025. Here are five real-world tasks — with prompts included — that you might like to use it for. (And before you start, here’s how to train AI to get the best answers, ideas on what to use it for, some prompting hacks, what to watch out for and how to stay safe using chatbots.)

Getting set up

First up, head to Google. Click on AI Mode, then select Thinking with 3 Pro.

Gemini 3 Pro promises «complex reasoning and generative layouts» versus just providing fast, all-around help. The use cases are endless, but here are five starter ideas.

1. Long-form video breakdown

You can upload long-form videos, links, notes, work documents and more. Gemini 3 Pro will break it down in simple language, with key insights and an action plan.

Example prompt: «Summarize this YouTube video into key takeaways, simplify it like I’m a beginner, and create an action plan so I actually implement and remember it.»

The result was a basic description of the video and its concepts, followed by the four phases explained within the video and then an AI-generated five-step action plan on how I could implement it:

2. Where to eat

Always stuck on where to eat or go for a special event? Ask Gemini 3 Pro in Search.

Example prompt: «I want to plan a date night for my wife and I. Help me choose where to go. We love Italian and Mediterranean food. We live in Montclair, NJ, but are happy to travel nearby. Budget: Max $150 including tip.»

The result was three recommendations, pictures of the food and locations, the estimated cost of each, whether I’d need to make reservations and their alcohol policies:

It nailed it. It recognized that Montclair is mainly BYOB and that a former favorite restaurant had recently closed.

3. Weekend plans

If the weather is looking good for a day trip, you can ask Gemini 3 Pro to help you plan where to go. With some recent snowstorms on the East Coast, I have my eye on beginner skiing.

Example prompt: «Should I go skiing this weekend? Compare where to go based on what’s good for beginners, snow accumulation, weather conditions, cost etc. We’ll need to rent my gear. Two people, within 1-2 hours of Montclair NJ.»

The result was a little basic this time, and more like an ordinary search request. It came back with links to sites where people in forums were discussing planning ski weekends, including on Facebook, Reddit and Quora, as well as more informational websites like Visit New Jersey, Yelp and Montclair Local News.

While these links were handy, I pushed it further to summarize them, then provide day trip details:

4. Workout routine

Leverage Gemini 3 Pro’s visual capabilities so you have extra support when you go to the gym. One of my health goals for this year is to build muscle, so I could ask Gemini Search for visual references for my training plan (because I don’t know the names of the machines).

Example prompt: «I’m trying to build a workout routine to increase muscle mass/definition, while slowing losing weight. Help me create a workout plan for my 3 strength training sessions per week. Show visuals of each machine so I know what to look for.»

The result was a short explanation and a very brief strategy:

I followed up with a clarifying prompt stating I need a workout plan with visual references, ideally in table form.

It’s a handy starting point, but remember to double-check the information AI gives you with a personal trainer or doctor before making any changes to your exercise regime (or diet).

5. Build something

There’s never been an easier time to translate an idea into a product, service or something you can enjoy, like your very own custom game. You could build a custom trivia game to play with your friends if you’re hosting a dinner.

Example prompt: «Build a trivia game to play with friends. They are book, movie and travel lovers. Create 20 questions.»

The result was actually a very playable game with four rounds of five questions:

Not a bad little game to be able to put out before appetizers. Just make sure you double-check all the information is correct before quizzing experts on their topics.
